worked retail forever. applied to a practical cert on a whim after a slow season. email came monday: you're in, deposit due, classes start next month. body said yes. brain said everyone will be nineteen and i'll look lost holding a textbook like a tourist.

pulled "is this dumb" and Page of Pentacles upright. kid staring at a coin like it might teach them something. beginner with homework energy.

is the card go be the student, or am i romanticizing school because work feels stuck. also money's tight — is a deposit a seed or a sink

Page of Pentacles upright is study mode — new skill, practical learning, news about money or school that asks you to show up as a beginner. Age isn't in the card. Attention is. Oldest in the room is ego forecasting humiliation. Most rooms have mixed ages and nobody tracks your biography like you do. If the cert maps to work you can actually use, deposit is a seed. Page of Pentacles holds the pentacle up to study it. Not spend it yet. Not rule with it yet. Pay the deposit if the path is concrete. Be the student. Romanticizing school only becomes a problem if you never finish the practical bits.
